The Thessaloniki International Film Festival transforms the city every November. For ten days the port warehouses and downtown cinemas fill with screenings, directors and conversations that run late; it is one of South-Eastern Europe's most important festivals and the city's defining event after the trade fair.
What to do
This is the month for interiors: museums, bookshops, warm cafés and meze houses with tsipouro. The port area around the festival takes on a distinct energy.
