Metro station
Sintrivani
The stop for the Rotunda and Kamara, and the gateway to student Navarinou.
At Sintrivani Square the centre begins to give way to the university district. This is the station with the greatest concentration of Roman monuments around it.
Get off here for
- The Rotunda, the imposing 4th-century circular building with its mosaics. A UNESCO monument.
- The Arch of Galerius, Kamara, the city's classic meeting point.
- Navarinou Square, with the ruins of the Palace of Galerius and the student cafés around it.
- The Dimitriou Gounari pedestrian street, running down toward the sea.
Where it puts you
Between the historic centre and the youthful Rotunda neighbourhood. It's the best starting point if you want to see the Galerian complex as a whole: the arch, the palace and the Rotunda were all part of the same imperial plan.
Good to know
The area is lively every day of the week, not just at weekends; this is a student neighbourhood.
