The Ancient Agora was the "town square" of Roman Thessaloniki — the city's administrative, commercial and social heart for centuries.
What you'll see
The site was laid out on two levels around a large square. Its porticoes, the odeon (a small theatre for music and performances) and the cryptoporticus — an underground gallery now housing a museum on the site's history — survive.
Good to know
It lies on Dikastirion Square in the centre, a short walk from Agios Dimitrios and the market. Visible from the square; check the official source for hours and the museum.
